THIRD DAY: Martin was called the Father of the Poor. He lived by the saying of Our Lord: “Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren you did it to me” (Mt 25:40). He spent himself in caring for the poor, the suffering, and the afflicted in all of whom he saw Our Savior.
PRAYER: Dear Saint Martin, teach us to be generous with the gifts that God has given us. Pray to Jesus and to His Mother, Our Lady of Mercy, that our hearts may not be hardened by sin and selfishness, but that we may always be kind and generous to our neighbors who are suffering or in need, because they, like us, are children of the same Heavenly Father. Amen.
